About Tifway 419
Tifway 419 was introduced in 1959 and was known as the industry standard.
It is characterized as having a dark green color and leaves that are fine
textured. Tifway 419 Bermuda is one of the best all purpose hybrids. It
is used on golf course fairways, football, baseball, soccer fields, and
home and commercial lawns. 419 Bermuda forms a dense durable surface
under relatively low mowing heights and will tolerate drought well.
419 Bermuda withstands wear and traffic, establishes quickly, and
recovers rapidly from injury. Bermuda grass lawns perform best when
maintained under 2 inches. Tifway 419 Bermuda can only be planted by
sodding or sprigging as it produces sterile seeds.
